COCAT and MHS join forces

The union of COCAT and MHS brings together two thriving firms with complementary heritages

DENVER, August 1, 2005 – COCAT, LLC. (www.cocat.com), the leading provider of restoration and reconstruction services in the Rocky Mountain region, today announced it is joining forces with MHS, a privately held provider of construction services. The partnership supports COCAT’s growth plans and provides a significant level of vertical integration for the company. It is expected that the cost savings achieved by combining operations will help fuel the growth of the renovation business and geographic expansion throughout the Rocky Mountain region while keeping customer costs contained.
The combined companies will operate under the COCAT name and brand with corporate headquarters located in Denver, Colorado. One of the leading general contractors in the industry, MHS owner Bryan Martin, will assume the role of Vice President of Construction. Following the union, COCAT will continue its business incorporating MHS resources and operations.

“This decision makes tremendous sense for our customers, employees and stakeholders," said Trevor Martin, COCAT Chief Executive Officer. “COCAT has been expanding rapidly over the past five years and has been outsourcing a lot of our construction services to MHS. This is an exceptional opportunity to combine two successful organizations with complementary service offerings into one company with a singular focus: the premier provider of restoration and construction services in the Rocky Mountain region. Together we reduce our overhead and offer expanded capabilities across a wider range of services.”

With these new resources, COCAT has created a new division specifically focused on renovations. Experts in delivering comprehensive disaster recovery services, COCAT has successfully restored thousands of residential, commercial, and industrial properties damaged by fire, flood, mold and other natural or man-made disasters. COCAT also has a long and successful history in residential and commercial general contracting, remodeling and renovation.

Complementary Strengths and Synergies
The union of COCAT and MHS unites two thriving firms with complementary heritages in restoration and construction. Key strengths and synergies of the union include:

  • Vertical integration of award-winning construction services.
  • Reduced overhead for general business management activities.
  • Larger revenue streams providing financial resources to grow.
  • A new division focused on construction and only construction.
  • Additional construction expertise, resources and capability to influence the direction of the industry.
  • Better value for customers.

“I have a true passion for the industry and this decision freed me up to do what I’m good at,” stated Bryan Martin, COCAT‘s new VP of Construction. “By combining the talented work forces of each company we will be in a good position to continue COCAT’s expansion into the renovation industry.” Bryan Martin began his career in 1986 working for a roofing company in Dayton, Ohio. He has worked as a subcontractor in every level of construction – from hands-on in the field to management – and was recently named Contractor of the Year in 2004 by the City of Arvada. Martin started MHS Construction in 1994 which he operated until joining with COCAT, LLC. and assuming the role of VP of Construction.
